Helplines, counseling programs and self-exclusion registers are funded by states and nonprofits, not by sportsbooks, so every resource on this page stayed open when the Unibet US platforms shut down in 2024.
Where to call first, at any hour
The national line is 1-800-GAMBLER. It is free, confidential and staffed around the clock, and it routes callers to services in their own state. The National Council on Problem Gambling also runs a text and chat service for people who would rather not speak to anyone out loud.
Gamblers Anonymous holds in-person and online meetings across all fifty states, and Gam-Anon serves family members dealing with someone else's gambling. None of these services asks which operator you used or how much you lost before helping.
State programs in the five former Unibet states
Each state that licensed the brand also funds treatment out of gaming tax revenue. Those programs continue regardless of which companies stay in the market.
- New Jersey — the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, reachable on 1-800-GAMBLER, with counseling referrals statewide.
- Pennsylvania — the state helpline on 1-800-GAMBLER, plus Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs treatment funding.
- Arizona — 1-800-NEXT-STEP, administered alongside the Arizona Department of Gaming's problem gambling office.
- Indiana — the Indiana Problem Gambling Awareness Program helpline on 1-800-994-8448.
- Virginia — the Virginia Council on Problem Gambling helpline, 888-532-3500.
Self-exclusion outlasts any single sportsbook
Voluntary self-exclusion is run by the state regulator, not by the operator, so an enrollment made through the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement or the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board still binds every licensed site in that state today. Terms typically run one year, five years or lifetime depending on the state.
